Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic Dance!

First Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 PM

Please join us in the UUCA sanctuary on first Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 PM for the embodied spiritual practice of Ecstatic Dance!

If you’re unfamiliar with Ecstatic Dance (or its close relatives “Dance church,” “5rhythms,” “Sweat your prayers,” “open floor,” or “conscious dance,”) here is some information from U.S. News and World Report about its many benefits.

Benefits that are spiritual, emotional, and physical. Benefits that are deeply personal and deeply relational.

In the spirit of relationality, there will be a firm covenant (promise) to ensure a safe and sacred space for everyone.

By attending ecstatic dance at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta, we covenant to:

  • Always receive consent before initiating any physical contact with others
  • Not sexualize myself or others
  • Refrain from verbal conversations in the sanctuary
  • Turn off all cell phones and other personal electronic devices
  • Avoid intoxicating substances
  • Dance and not stare
  • Lean into a non-judgmental space
  • Not bring children under 8 (childcare will be provided if requested in advance)

Folks who cannot live into this covenant will be asked to leave.

Each event will begin with 15 minutes of guidance from a highly experienced practitioner to help us all get the fullest possible benefits.

$10 suggested donation to help sustain this important program and other life-giving and spirit-sustaining programs at UUCA.

We hope you’ll join us!
