Lifespan Faith Formation

What is Faith Formation for us? And why do it?
We practice good faith with each other, Unitarian Universalism, and the interdependent web as we journey together.
And, we nourish that which most grounds us through life’s trials.
UUCA strives to create rich Faith Formation programs which:
- move us deeper and deeper into embodied lives of integrity and love,
- expand our awareness and understanding of our UU identities and the world around us,
- and make relational meaning of all our wisdom sources.

What will your experience be?
Faith Formation at UUCA utilizes intergenerational play, learning, and meaningful activities (though programs are generally divided/tailored by age group):
- Adult programs - 1st Sunday Faith Formation, Reels with the Reverend, Weekly Meditation, and Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression, & MultiCultural workshops
- Youth Programs - 4 week-long Summer Camps, Our Whole Lives (a science based, secular, and inclusive sex ed curriculum), Coming of Age classes, and a growing Youth Group (led by youth advisor Vic Pierce)
- Children’s Faith Formation - Developmentally appropriate Soul Matters Curriculum, Kids’ Night In
- Leadership Development - Concentrated curriculum from the UUA Leaderlab and other resources which prepare people of all ages for church leadership, including Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion workshops

Our Faith Formation Journey
When You Arrive...
1. Please enter through the main entrance, and go to the Faith Formation Table to your immediate left and check your child(ren) into the building. This is important so we know every child who is in the building in case of emergency; and so while your child(ren) is in our care, we know if they have allergies, how to contact you, and other such information that allows us to keep them safe. Once they are in our care, we will be responsible for them until you come to pick them up or until 15 minutes following the last programmed event of the day - whichever is first.
2. If your child(ren) will be in the nursery (0-5 years old or up to 7 if not potty trained), you will also sign your child in when you drop them off in the nursery, including who will pick them up with contact info, and any allergies/health concerns about which the nursery care providers should be aware.
3. If the kids are beginning the service with everybody else, go with your child(ren) into the sanctuary. You will experience the beginning of worship together until they are sung out about 20 minutes into the service (unless it is a fully intergenerational service, in which case they will stay for the whole service - this usually happens on the First Sunday of each month). Whether the kids will be staying out the whole time, leaving in the middle, or staying in worship the whole time will be posted on the greeter's table as you enter and will typically be included in the monthly newsletter.
