The Pathway to Membership

There is no formal conversion process, so becoming a member of our congregation is simply a matter of self-identification. Membership is voluntary and does not require renouncing other religious affiliations or practices.

The Membership Committee and our minister offer bi-monthly Pathway to Membership classes for those interested in further exploration of Unitarian Universalism, and coordinates the New Member Welcome Ceremony for those who decide to join us.

UU Heritage: An Overview Conversation with the Minister

Are you curious or puzzled about Unitarian Universalism? Our minister will answer your questions and help you understand the origins and on-going history of Unitarian Universalism. This is a bi-monthly orientation class primarily for interested visitors and new members.

UU Community and Connections: Time, Talent and Treasure

This class is designed to orient guests and new members to this congregation. It provides a history of our congregation, and an overview of the programs, activities and committees of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta. These classes are usually held on a Sunday before the service.

New Member Welcome Ceremony

This ritual allows our congregation to welcome those who have decided to become members of our church family once they have signed the membership book. The New Member Welcome Ceremony is held during a Sunday morning service, and participation is voluntary.
